On the TV show the West Wing Episode 2-09 (Galileo). President Bartlet prepares to address thousands of elementary students nationwide as a NASA space probe descends on Mars. During prep press secretary C.J. Cregg advises the president to let the experts answer questions and act only as moderator, proclaiming “Nobody likes a know-it-all!” To which Bartlet responds “Yes, God forbid, that while talking to 60,000 public school students, the President should appear smart!” (This coming from a liberal based TV show) This is what the country has come to. Smart people with factual information are ridiculed while people who make things up are defended as just having a bad day or being tired. During the 2008 election the American people were educated with three facts. Prior to which probably most of the country did not know either of them. 1)The United States has 57 states. Which of those statements should be taught to children in our public school? God forbid, that while doing a TV Interview a (VP) Presidential candidate should appear smart!
2)FDR addressed the nation on TV in 1929.
3)You can actually see Russia from some place in the country.
