Media Narrative of the Day: Governor Palin’s Supporters Capable of Thinking for Themselves

Much has already been written about Governor Palin’s endorsement of Carly Fiorina, but nothing parallels the media delight in reporting on the so-called “Grassroots revolt on Palin’s Facebook Page”. An unprecedented number of Google/Yahoo alerts surrounding this topic have already found its way into my inbox…a number which continues to rise.

The LSM has been telling us for months that Governor Palin’s supporters are stupid, uneducated, sheep or lemmings willing to follow the Governor blindly off a cliff. Now they’re claiming that some of her supporters disagree with the Governor and have reached their own informed and educated opinions. The LSM doesn’t see the contradiction.

The truth is that Governor Palin’s supporters are well educated and well informed. The reason we support her is because we are informed. Most of us have done our own research on the Governor. We have examined her record and we understand and believe in what she stands for. We don’t rely on what the media is trying to feed us.

Governor Palin’s supporters mostly agree with her, and when they don’t, they will respectfully voice their opinions. This does not mean that there is a “revolt” and that they no longer support her, all this means is that we are smart enough to know that we may sometimes agree to disagree. It is Governor Palin herself who encourages us to stand up and make our voices be heard.

The following comment, one among many of its kind, was left on one of the blogs discussing this topic and sums this up well:

I have no ill will towards Palin for her endorsement anyone who does needs to think a bit more about what it means to be a conservative. We are the thinking man’s party. We do not follow people blindly because they cause a thrill to go up our legs. We agree with people when they make sense to us and when they don’t we disagree.

The LSM and the Left simply don’t get it. They assume that conservatives all think alike or not at all. That we’re mind numb robots who will blindly follow our chosen leaders as if we were Democrats. But when things don’t work out according to their script, whether we’re dumb or smart depends on the narrative of the day they’re trying to push.

Recently I noted how the time is closing in when we will no longer need to debunk those manufactured narratives the media make up as it is they themselves who are doing it for us. With each passing day and with each story that is written about Governor Palin this is becoming more and more evident.
